Scripts

One of the most common requests that we heard from readers of our first book (Oracle8 Data Warehousing, Wiley Computer Publishing, March 1998) was to provide copies of the scripts that were printed in the text.  Some of these scripts are long and retyping them is a major waste of time.  We agree!  All of the scripts (at least those longer than a few lines) that you might reasonably find a reason to use have been copied here so that you may download them.  In many cases you may find that the script, as written, is close to what you actually need to do.  Using our script as a template, you can make your necessary changes more quickly than if you have to start from scratch.  If there is a script in the book that we didn't include, please email us and we'll extract it and add it to the site.

First some obligatory "small print":

We must provide the standard disclaimer, here, though.  You are welcome to use these scripts for any purpose, other than re-publication. . .the copyright for the scripts presented here remains with the rest of the book.  Further, they are offered without any warranty or commitment to support or enhance them.  We will try to answer questions that you may have, but they are not a supported product.

The scripts as well as corrections and any supplementary material that expands upon the original text will be maintained at the authors' personal websites: Tim Gorman's Homepage and Gary Dodge's Homepage.  Feel free to browse around.  Tim's site, especially, includes many additional Oracle monitoring and tuning scripts that you may find useful.

(Only those chapters that have scripts will show as active links.)
